Sitting between the sea and the city
there is space
sitting between the sea and the city
there is sky
behind you crashing
concrete amplifies
sentences bouncing
between high rise
and high rise
sitting between the sea and the city
you taste salt
close your eyes
fingers rummage the past
peep through uneven stone
wonder the prehistory
watch the chalk
timeline rewind
your nose fills with salt breeze
sitting between the sea and the city
there is
Briefly
An unexpected jolt
halts rhythmic
thuds on wood
teeth crunch tree
pattern on pillow
I reach down
between my legs
sticky stuff
tinged red I hold
the final proof
the wounded animal
I become deserves
his affection
he realises there is
a body at the end
of his gun that bleeds
his guard down
he reaches out
to touch my cheek
before he retreats
into himself again.
